The Yeti has been frozen in place for years while strobe lights create the motion effect, which is how the nickname became such a permanent part of Animal Kingdom vocabulary. The ride still has its backward run, broken track, and final drop. But that last split second in the mountain has never quite been what the original figure was built to do.
Disney did not explain how the restoration will happen or whether Everest will close for it. So nobody needs to rearrange an upcoming Animal Kingdom day yet.
