Na'vi River Journey: about 10 minutes during Early Entry versus 45 minutes later in the morning.

For Na'vi River Journey, the later wait was at least 10 minutes longer on about 10 in 10 comparable days. Choose among your must-do rides using the actual waits; this is not a guaranteed time saving.

How we worked this out

Over the last 30 complete days, we compare each headliner’s median of daily average posted waits during the actual Early Entry interval before regular opening with the wait two to four hours after opening on the same dates. Opening-hour readings are excluded. At least eight matched dates with repeated readings in both windows are required. Every participating headliner with support is included, even when its early wait is similar or longer; the percentage shows how often the later wait was at least 10 minutes longer.

Kilimanjaro Safaris: about 22 minutes in the opening hour, compared with 43 minutes in the next hour.

This helps weigh an earlier start. These are hourly posted-wait patterns, not the cost of arriving exactly 15 or 30 minutes late, and not Early Entry arrival times.

How we worked this out

For each ride, we use only dates with both opening-hour and following-hour observations, then compare the two medians of daily hourly averages. We need at least eight matched dates. Hour buckets are aligned to the published opening schedule.

Avatar Flight of Passage typically reaches 45 minutes at park open. Choose a 30-, 45- or 60-minute limit below to compare rides.

If a ride is already above your limit during the opening hour, arriving later may not solve that. Check live waits or consider Early Entry if you are eligible. This is an hourly pattern, not an exact countdown.

How we worked this out

For each selected limit (30, 45 or 60 minutes), we show the first supported hourly median reaching it, at least two hours before close. These medians summarize daily hourly average posted waits; individual visits can differ.

Kilimanjaro Safaris: about 22 minutes in the opening hour, compared with 52 minutes two hours after opening.

Start with rides you want to do. A large increase and a long later wait can make an early visit worthwhile; this list alone is not a touring order.

How we worked this out

For each attraction we use dates with both the opening hour and the hourly window two hours after open. We show every headliner with matched readings, sorted by the increase. A rise of 10 minutes or more and a later wait of at least 30 minutes can make an early visit worth considering; small or negative changes are still shown.

The headliner average reaches about 44 minutes around 11:00 AM. Explore the full curve for the quieter stretches on either side.

Use the shape to think about ride time, meal breaks and returning later. This recent average is a planning reference, not today's live waits or a forecast for your trip. Early and late points reflect dates when the park was open at those times.

How we worked this out

Source: the same direct Disney posted-wait snapshots used by Ride Radar. We use the last 30 complete Orlando dates during regular park hours. At each 15-minute time point, we average a ride's readings within each date, then average those daily values for that ride. We then average the ride results, giving every headliner equal weight. Each headliner needs at least eight observed dates at that time; the rides do not have to report on the same dates. Every plotted point includes the same headliners. Days per ride shows the smallest and largest date counts behind that point. Down rides and missing readings never become zero-minute waits; gaps are left open. The clock labels mark the start of each 15-minute interval. Headliners: Avatar Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and Na'vi River Journey.

Pick a ride you want to do, then check its suggested hour. These windows can fall before or after the afternoon peak. Check the current wait before walking over.

How we worked this out

For each ride we find its lowest supported hourly median after the opening hour and at least two hours before close. We show rides whose daytime peak reaches 30 minutes and whose suggested hour is at least 10 minutes lower. This avoids highlighting rides with short waits all day. A one-hour historical window is not an exact appointment.

Planning notes & data
For your plan

Na'vi River Journey had a dip 8 hours after open on about 3 in 10 comparable days.

Treat an occasional dip as a reason to check again, not a reason to build your whole day around it. The decrease is measured against both neighboring hours. These are one-hour windows between noon and 5 p.m.; the dip can be brief.

How we worked this out

A dip is at least five minutes below BOTH the immediately preceding and following hours on the same date, in a clock-hour window between noon and 5 p.m. Frequency counts only dates with all three adjacent hours at that same time. Size summarizes qualifying dips; duration is not measured, and no duration is promised.

Kilimanjaro Safaris drops to about 12 minutes 7 hours after open.

This is a return-time option after waits have peaked. Check the resulting wait as well as the decrease. A small drop may not be worth changing your plans. Closing-time windows are excluded.

How we worked this out

For every headliner, we compare its highest supported daytime hourly median with the lowest later hourly median. Both windows must be at least two hours before close. Small drops are shown too; a drop of 10 minutes or more is a more useful reason to check again. If no later supported window exists, we say so without inventing a wait.

Planning notes & data
For your plan

Avatar Flight of Passage typically posted about 89 minutes on busier mornings, versus 55 minutes on quieter mornings. That is about 34 minutes more to allow for this ride.

Use the busier-morning wait to leave room in your plans. If your park dates are flexible, the comparison shows how much a quieter day could matter for these rides. These figures cover the first two hours after opening; they are not a touring order or whole-day waits.

How we worked this out

for each attraction, we compare its median posted wait in the first two hours after official opening on quiet and busy matched park days. Quieter and busier mornings are the lowest and highest quarter of morning waits at the other supported rides in the same park, excluding the ride being compared. We include every catalog headliner with repeated observations in both groups, ordered by the difference in minutes; there is no top-three cutoff. Each ride uses its available operating history, so the date range can differ by ride.

How we worked this out

At the hourly window two hours after opening, we show the median and 25th–75th percentiles of daily hourly average posted waits. The frequency is the share of eligible dates where that hourly average was 30, 45 or 60 minutes or less. It is not the chance that your personal wait will be under 45 minutes.

Typical waits peak around 3 hours after open. They ease around 7 hours after open.

Waits stay above the opening level for two hours starting 1 hour after open on about 9 in 10 comparable days. A sustained drop appears 7 hours after open on about 5 in 10 comparable days. Use this to think about breaks and return times; check that day’s hours.

How we worked this out

For each hour we take the median across eligible attractions on a day, then summarize those daily medians. The shaded range covers the middle half of days. Build/ease labels require the pattern on at least half of comparable dates, with at least eight dates. On each date, both consecutive hours must stay at least 25% above that day’s opening wait, or at least 20% below its earlier daytime peak. Each hourly result uses only dates where that window is at least two hours before close and at least 70% of expected rides report. Later hours may therefore describe longer park days.

At park open typically offers 2 attractions at 30 minutes or less and 3 headliners at 60 minutes or less.

This counts choice, not just the average wait, so it shows when more of the park becomes realistically available.

How we worked this out

Headliners in this park: Avatar Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and Na'vi River Journey. For each eligible day and hourly window we count operating attractions whose hourly average posted wait is at most 30 minutes, and headliners at most 60 minutes. We show the median daily count; about accounts for fractional medians. Reporting attractions vary, and the counts are not a guarantee of simultaneous availability.

Use this to decide which waits are worth checking again when the weather changes. A small difference means similar typical waits in these records; it does not mean a ride stays open in storms or offers shelter.

How we worked this out

We pair dates one-to-one within the same calendar month, year and weekday. Rain comparisons also match the heat band; heat comparisons also match the rain band. Rainy means at least 0.10 inch that day; hot means a high of 90°F or more. Each pair includes the same rides on both dates, excluding severe weather and poorly covered days. At least 20 date pairs are required. These are associations in posted waits, not proof that weather caused the difference or that a ride remained open. Each ride compares its daily average posted waits on the paired dates. We show both the largest and smallest differences; there is no claim about ride reliability.
