Slinky Dog Dash remained closed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on September 2 after failing to operate on August 31 or September 1. Disney has not provided a cause or reopening time.
Three full days changes the advice. This is no longer a routine “check again after breakfast” interruption. If Slinky Dog Dash is one of your family’s must-dos, build the morning as though it will be unavailable—and let a reopening become the happy surprise.
Slinky is sitting this round out
Reports from Hollywood Studios show a Slinky Dog Dash train stopped at the attraction’s second launch. An electrical panel nearby was also open.
That certainly looks like a clue. It is not an official diagnosis.
Disney has not identified an electrical problem, mechanical failure, safety issue, or any other cause. The stopped train and open panel tell us where attention appears to be focused, not what happened or how long repairs might take.
One outlet used the word “indefinitely.” We would not. Disney has not posted a planned long-term closure; it simply has not provided a reopening time. Those are two very different things.
Do not donate your best morning to a closed queue
Slinky Dog Dash is one of Hollywood Studios’ most valuable family attractions. It delivers a real coaster without jumping all the way to the park’s biggest thrill rides, which makes it especially difficult to replace for groups with younger riders.
If the My Disney Experience app still shows it as temporarily closed, move another priority into that early slot. Do not cross the park based on an old screenshot, and do not stand near Toy Story Land waiting for a reopening Disney has not announced.
Toy Story Mania and Alien Swirling Saucers were operating when the latest on-site reports were published, so Toy Story Land itself is not off the table. Just keep enough flexibility to pivot if other waits begin absorbing guests who would normally be in Slinky Dog Dash’s queue.
And if that little green “open” status finally appears, move quickly. A popular coaster returning after several days away is unlikely to enjoy a quiet entrance.
This story reflects reporting available on the afternoon of September 2. If Slinky Dog Dash reopens, the closure headline expires with it.
