Hurly-Burly opens October 1 at Disney’s BoardWalk with family games and trivia during the afternoon, then live music for guests 21 and older beginning at 9 p.m. The new lounge will be walk-up only, with no reservations required.
Now this is how you wake up the BoardWalk. The promenade has always been lovely after an EPCOT day, but “lovely” and “lively” are not the same thing. Hurly-Burly sounds like it understands that the BoardWalk should have a pulse after dark.
One room, two completely different moods
Families get the first act. Disney says afternoons will feature trivia and other games led by a host, giving parents somewhere to settle in without turning the visit into another formal meal.
At 9 p.m., the room changes course. Hurly-Burly becomes a 21-and-older live-music venue with cocktails, wine, beer, and small plates. That split is clever: children aren’t shut out of the new venue entirely, but the BoardWalk still gets an evening experience that feels grown-up.
And because everything is walk-up, nobody needs to decide 60 days ahead that October 17 at precisely 8:25 p.m. will be their jazz-lounge moment.
This menu knows where it lives
The savory side starts with Meatballs in Tomato Gravy, topped with stracciatella and Pecorino Romano and served with toasted focaccia. A plant-based version will be available upon request.
The Antipasto piles sliced meats, Burrata, Pecorino, marinated vegetables, and breadsticks onto one plate. Tomato Pie keeps things boardwalk-simple with focaccia, tomato sauce, oregano, and Pecorino, and it also has a plant-based option.
Then Disney loosens its collar a little.
There are Mini Pretzels with Bacon-Cheese Fondue, Oven-roasted Shrimp with garlic and pepper-onion relish, and Roast Beef Sliders with horseradish-mustard sour cream. Theater Concessions combines meatballs, a sugar cookie, and buttered popcorn, which sounds less like a composed dish and more like someone gave the concession stand creative freedom. We respect the confidence.
Mini Apple Cider Doughnuts arrive with miso-caramel sauce. Those feel almost suspiciously well designed for a late BoardWalk stop.
The nonalcoholic drinks deserve attention, too. Overture in Orange is a frozen orange-and-sweet-cream treat. Caramel Corn Cold Brew gets caramel sweet cream and caramel popcorn, while Cherry Marquee blends lemonade with Amarena cherries.
Adults get ten cocktails, including a Caramel Corn Old Fashioned, a spicy La Taquilla Picante, and the navy-strength gin Mertini. The whiskey-and-apple-brandy Road to Fame sounds particularly well suited to a room pretending it is still the golden age of seaside theater.
Several drinks will also be available from a walk-up window. The food stays inside, but guests wandering the BoardWalk can grab select cocktails or nonalcoholic drinks without joining the lounge queue.
One important piece is still missing
Disney’s preview does not include prices.
That number will decide whether Hurly-Burly becomes an easy “let’s split a few things” stop or a beautiful room where three small plates somehow turn into dinner money. The menu photography cannot settle that argument for us.
We also do not have complete operating hours beyond the 9 p.m. age change. For now, October 1 belongs on the calendar—but the evening budget can stay written in pencil.
