Disney World's character accessories for Resort Refillable Drink Mugs are now reported at five resort locations, giving guests more places to find the removable handle decorations. WDWMAGIC's August 6 update lists availability at Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, and both Port Orleans resorts.
The accessories themselves are not an August debut. Approved coverage documented them at Port Orleans Riverside in late May and Pop Century in early June. The useful new information is the broader location list, not a claim that the product has just launched.
Key details
- Current reported locations: Five resort shops or food courts
- Accessory price: $4.99 in earlier approved coverage
- Rapid Fill mug price: $22.99 plus tax
- Current character list: Mike Wazowski, Sulley, Jessie, Joy, and Woody
- Other previously seen design: Buzz Lightyear
- How they attach: Removable pieces fit onto the mug handle
- Availability: Sold separately from the mug, with limited supplies and character selection
- Care: Earlier reporting says the accessories are not dishwasher- or microwave-safe
The five reported resort locations
WDWMAGIC lists the accessories at the following Walt Disney World resort locations:
- The food court and Ink and Paint shop at Disney's Art of Animation Resort
- Riverside Mill Food Court at Disney's Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
- Centertown Market at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort
- Everything POP Shopping & Dining at Disney's Pop Century Resort
- Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory at Disney's Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
That list materially expands the locations documented when the accessories first appeared. WDW News Today reported them at Riverside Mill Food Court on May 27, and Disney Food Blog and AllEars later found them at Everything POP in early June. The August report adds Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, and Port Orleans French Quarter to the confirmed coverage.
The products remain a limited-availability resort item. A listing at a location does not guarantee that every character will be in stock throughout the day, and WDWMAGIC advises guests who want a specific design to look early in their trip.
What the handle accessories are
The decorations are small character-themed pieces made to fit onto the handle of Disney's current resort refillable mug. WDWMAGIC describes the current versions as surfboard-shaped charms that slide onto the handle. Earlier WDW News Today coverage reported that a package contains two removable pieces, allowing one to sit on each side of the handle.
The August character list names Mike Wazowski, Sulley, Jessie, Joy, and Woody. Earlier approved reports also pictured or listed Buzz Lightyear. That difference is another reason to treat the assortment as location- and inventory-dependent rather than a guaranteed six-character collection.
Earlier coverage priced the accessory package at $4.99. WDWMAGIC's August article does not restate the accessory price, so guests should verify the shelf label before purchasing. The pieces are sold separately from the refillable mug itself.
The accessories are decorative. They do not include a drink plan or replace the need for an activated Rapid Fill mug. Guests who already receive a mug through an eligible Disney dining plan can still purchase a handle accessory separately if available.
How the Resort Refillable Mug works
Disney's Rapid Fill mug currently costs $22.99 plus tax. The program covers eligible fountain drinks, coffee, and tea at resort self-service beverage locations for the length of a guest's stay. Disney Food Blog's current guide describes the mug as a 16-ounce cup and says refill access lasts for the stay, up to 14 days.
The refill program is designed for participating Walt Disney World resort beverage stations. It is not a refill benefit at theme park quick-service counters. Guests can use an activated mug at participating self-service locations across Disney resort hotels, not only at the hotel where it was purchased.
The character pieces do not change those rules. Choosing a charm is a cosmetic decision; the mug's activation controls the beverage access.
A small care detail matters
WDW News Today reported that the handle accessories are not dishwasher- or microwave-safe. Because the pieces are removable, guests can take them off before cleaning or heating the mug. That is especially relevant for anyone who plans to keep using the mug after the trip.
The accessory also adds another small item that can be misplaced. Removing it before packing, washing, or placing the mug in a crowded bag is a sensible precaution, particularly when traveling with children.
What guests should know before looking
The expanded resort list makes the accessories easier to encounter, but it does not turn them into a guaranteed resort-wide offering. Guests staying elsewhere should not make a special trip solely on the assumption that a specific character will still be available.
For guests already visiting one of the five listed resorts, the simplest approach is to check the quick-service mug display or connected merchandise area early in the stay. Verify the current price and inspect the package for the character pieces included. If the desired design is unavailable, another listed resort may have a different assortment, but no source promises restocks or transfers between locations.
The August update is best understood as a current availability expansion for an existing souvenir. The $4.99 decorations remain optional, while the separate $22.99 Rapid Fill mug continues to provide the actual resort beverage benefit.
