D23’s next Spotlight Series event will celebrate Walt Disney World’s 55th anniversary on Sunday, October 4, at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 28, at 1 p.m. Eastern.
Panel-only tickets cost $59 plus a $3 processing fee. VIP tickets cost $159 plus the same fee. Both include a limited-release pin featuring the classic Walt Disney World Resort logo.
The program runs from 6 to approximately 7:30 p.m. and looks at the history of Carousel of Progress with the Walt Disney Archives and Imagineers working on the attraction’s newest additions. Joe Rohde is also scheduled to speak about storytelling and his Imagineering career.
This is not a park-ticket add-on or an anniversary festival. It is a ticketed D23 presentation for guests who would happily spend an evening hearing archival details about a rotating theater. Said with affection: that is an unusually good use of an October night at Walt Disney World.
The ticket details that change the evening
VIP guests check in at 4:45 p.m.; panel-only ticket holders begin at 5:15 p.m. VIP admission also includes a dessert reception in the West Rotunda, two character meet-and-greet opportunities, select Disney Springs partner coupons, and 9 p.m. fireworks viewing from the resort.
D23 Gold and General Members may reserve tickets for themselves and up to three guests. The event is for guests ages 13 and older; guests under 18 need a parent or legal guardian with a valid ticket.
The Contemporary will not offer event parking. Guests are directed to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center and use Disney transportation to reach the resort. Treat that transportation instruction as part of the ticket, not a footnote—especially on an evening when the Magic Kingdom area is already full of people with very sincere opinions about where they need to be by fireworks.
